Read Event
In David Nicholls’ hilarious coming of age novel Starter for Ten, protagonist Brian Jackson has a thirst for knowledge of all kinds and a deep love of reading, but not a great deal of common sense. Set in 1985, the novel tells the story of Brian’s first year at university and follows his desperate romantic pursuits and his disastrous appearance on University Challenge.
David Nicholls will be appearing at the festival to discuss Starter for Ten and his new novel, One Day. This is your chance to share your thoughts and to ask the author questions
Starter for Ten is also the first Durham Student Read, a new campus-wide campaign led by students from Durham University. Featured events include book clubs and film screenings. To get involved, go to www.durhamstudentreaders.com.
