Pitman Painters

An exhibition showcasing the coal mining paintings of well known local artists such as Norman Cornish and Tom McGuiness. Subjects include mining above and below ground. The paintings form part of the collection of Dr Robert McManners, author of several books on the subject.

Nearest station is Durham Station. Leave station, go down road, cross bridge on left. Follow path into North Road. Follow road past taxi rank until on Framwellgate Bridge. Turn right past Cafe Rouge and go down steps. Walk along river bank until you reach museum.

Nearest major road is A1(M). Leave at exit for Durham City and follow signs for centre. Straight over roundabout, 2nd exit off 2nd roundabout to multi-storey car park. Walk out of car park, right path to Market Place, down Silver Street, down steps by Cafe Rouge.
