Inkubator II is a unique exhibition of artists' books and multiples by a variety of national and international artists, bookmakers and printmakers including Frans Baake, Imi Maufe, Otto Dettmer, Wiebke Loeper and Miranda Schofield and is curated by artist David Faithfull.
The exhibition contains three themed areas entitled Study, Log Cabin and Landscape, each with site specific handmade conceptual wallpaper, floor coverings and chairs which create a particular mood or ambience in which the visitor can relax and handle the artists' books directly.
There are a number of events on throughout this event for all ages, including a free preview on Friday 12 September, a talk on artists books by Gail-Nina Anderson and a chance to create your own artists' book. See http://www.durham.gov.uk/dli for more information.
The DLI Museum and Durham Art Gallery has also commissioned a fourth themed area entitled 'Bunker' exploring themes of war and conflict and featuring the work of North East based artists, designers and printmakers
