Peace & Tranquility Week: Crook Hall & Gardens by Candlelight

Crook Hall is celebrationg Durham's Peace & Tranquillity Week by lighting the hall and gardens with over a thousand candles. Visitors will be able to walk through the garden rooms in the early September evening. A magical effect will be created with chandeliers hanging from the trees and candles floating on the moat pool. The romantic gardens will have the added aura of candlelight transforming the grounds into an almost mystical state. Visitors are invited to bring their own lanterns. Candle lanterns will be available to launch into the dark skies carrying your wishes to the stars.

The close hamony group Scherzo who will be wandering through the gardens throughout the evening will enhance the dream like atmosphere. Pre booked visitors only, call 0191 384 8028.

Nearest station is Durham Station. From the station road walk down North Road past the bus station to The Gates Shopping Centre. Follow the road down to the riverside, and Crook Hall is signposted from there.

Nearest major road is A1(M). From the A1(M) take the A690 into Durham city centre. Follow the signs for The Gates Shopping Centre then pick up the signs for Crook Hall.
