The County Durham Records Office opens it's doors to the public tomorrow with an introductory session on how to access and make the most of their archive.

If you've seen popular TV shows like "Who Do You Think You Are?"  or "Heir Hunters" you'll know there is a whole world of history behind each and every one of us just waiting to be discovered. The Records Office is the best place for you to take your first step on this journey as dedicated staff talk you through how to begin the search!

The session covers family and local history and a whole host of other types of record including birth, marriage, death, probate, land and military. These records hold the key to the past so if you fancy yourself as something of a historical sleuth then pop along to County Hall at 6pm on Thursday 29th August.

Tickets are £4 or £10 for a family ticket  (2 adults 3 kids)
