Culture Minister visits Durham Cathedral

Culture Minister, Margaret Hodge visited Durham yesterday and saw for herself just why Durham could be the first UK City of Culture. During her visit, Ms Hodge was given a tour of the Cathedral and had a presentation on the economic vision for the County and a briefing on the City of Culture bid.
Ms Hodge said it was a great privilege to visit Durham Cathedral and said of Durham's bid: "I am passionately committed to the concept of City of Culture. I think culture can be a way of bringing focus to a city and bringing a commmunity together. I am really pleased Durham is bidding, along with the other 13."
The minister was met by Canon Rosalind Brown, Durham County Council Leader, Simon Henig and Durham MP, Roberta Blackman-Woods.
