
Sir Bobby Robson
Footballing legend, Sir Bobby Robson was born in Sacriston and lived in the county for much of his life. His family moved to Langley Park when he was small where his father was a miner and he played for Langley Park Juniors.
During his career he played for Fulham, West Bromwich Albion and Vancouver Royals. He also managed seven European sides including Fulham and Newcastle United and he managed England from 1982 - 1990
Bobby Robson was awarded a number of honours. In 1990, at the end of his eight-year reign as England manager, he was awarded a CBE and in 2002, he was knighted; both awards were for services to football.
