
Durham University Botanic Garden
Durham University's Botanic Garden on the outskirts of the City offers a variety of gardens and artwork set in 18 acres of parkland. Wander through the Alpine Garden, Winter Garden, Bamboo Grove or the recently developed woodland garden and wild flower meadow.
There are wonderful glass houses - the desert house has a collection of cacti that thrive in this arid climate and the tropical rainforest house contains a unique collection of plants.
There is even a rare breed of Manx Loghtan sheep that can be seen enjoying the parkland in spring.
