Durham Mysteries 2010
Ten stories, two thousand years in the making. The resurrection of the Mystery Plays will be one of the most exciting events in Durham's cultural calendar in 2010.
Still performed in UK cities such as York and Chester, Mystery Plays are one of the earliest forms of live theatre. Their resurrection in Durham, celebrates the city’s faith-based history, and will see a contemporary ‘retelling’ of traditional Mysteries stories over three nights at venues across the city involving anything from dance, opera and musical theatre, to film and new media.
Individuals, community groups and whole villages across the County are involved in their production.
