
Durham City Theatre
The City Theatre is the home of Durham Dramatic Society, an amateur drama group with over 100 active members. The members perform five "mainstream" plays each year for the general public, and in addition one, or more, one-act plays which are usually entered in the All England Drama Festival.
The Dramatic Society has been in existence for over 70 years and has owned its own theatre on the present site for more than 20 years. It is a small, intimate theatre with only 72 seats in the auditorium. The Society is a member of The Little Theatre Guild of Great Britain - an organisation whose aim is to maintain high standards in the world of amateur drama.
